Our team decided to participate in this competition because we wanted to explore environmental issues and apply scientific methods to solve real-world problems. After discussing different ideas, we formed a team and chose to study marine fiber pollution caused by household laundry. Each member took responsibility for different tasks, such as researching background information, designing experiments, collecting data, and preparing the presentation.
To prepare for the competition, we conducted several experiments using a washing machine while changing factors such as rotational speed, detergent concentration, and water temperature. We carefully recorded the amount of fiber released under different conditions and analyzed the results. During the preparation process, we also spent a lot of time discussing our findings and improving our experimental design.
There were also some interesting moments during the experiment. For example, during one test, we accidentally meddled with the temperature, which produced less fiber than usual. Although it was a mistake, it helped us realize how sensitive fiber release can be to washing conditions.
The biggest challenge we faced was ensuring the accuracy and consistency of our experimental data. Sometimes the results varied, so we had to repeat the experiments multiple times. Through this experience, we learned the importance of teamwork, patience, and careful scientific investigation. This competition not only improved our research skills but also increased our awareness of environmental protection.
